Artist's Comments

Though the jewish community gets most of the sympathy for the holocaust, they werent the only ones in the camps. Most of these people were given a symbol of identification, coloured triangles. Some of these symbols went on to represent the group of people after the holocaust (homosexuals, for example)

Red: Political prisoner, often a communist or socialist that is not a nazi.

Pink: Homosexual

Brown: Sometimes used for undesirables or antisocials (like non-comformists) instead of black triangle, which was sometimes reserved for lesbians.

Purple: Jehova's whitness

Blue: Emigrant

Black: Antisocial

Green: Criminals

Yellow: Jew, 2 triangles used to form a star of david, this second star can be combined with any of the other triangles to form the star if they happen to be jewish too.

I felt like doing something informative, so here it is.

Completely and utterly...dead.
:icondobos:
Yeah, while it was mostely Jews, they pretty much sent anyone they didn't like to the death camps...also, because many people had Jews in their ancestry, although may not have been Jews themselves, it was a way of getting rid of political opponents, like "your great grand uncle was a Jew, and Hitler doesn't like you, so were gonna kill you now..." That would have sucked...

"Never create what you cannot kill..."
:iconpierrotlunaire:
if i could favorite this twice i would

it's interesting to me that even after the allies freed the jews they left the homosexuals to rot in the camps long after

nobody ever hears about that

Your "consumer power" doesn't work when billions are spent to change what you think is right.

What do you mean? Is it spinning the wrong way? I threw the swatstika on there so people dont have to read the description or name to know it was about the nazis.

Yup it is spinning the wrong way... the top hook should end towards the right and the bottom hook should en towards the left...

yeah and i understand why you put it there...

I think the word "GEGEN" would be more evocative. The pic reminds me of that pre-Nazi Socialist Party banner, before the Nazis outlawed all political parties - It was a fist smashing a swastika.
